    Arrive early on sunny weekends — picnic bays fill. Toilets and shade first, then easy mangrove boardwalk loops at kid or grandparent pace. Optional short signed trails only if energy is high; keep West Head as the afternoon climax. Do not invent a long Sphinx–Bobbin stack on a classic first day.

  3. 11:00–12:30

    Lunch · rehydrate · honest energy check

    Eat a real meal and reassess heat, toddlers and ankles. Decision gate: if anyone is cooked, stay at Bobbin Head or go home winners — West Head is optional excellence, not mandatory. If green lights, load the car with a traffic buffer toward the West Head road.

    Transfer toward West Head

    Drive with wildlife awareness and no informal roadside pull-outs for “just one frame.” Note remaining gate margin as you enter the peninsula. If parking at popular bays is saturated, main lookout only — do not circle endlessly while the clock runs.

  5. 13:30–15:30

    West Head Lookout (+ optional America Bay only if margin ≥ ~2 hrs)

    Main lookout platforms first: Pittwater, Barrenjoey and Lion Island context views. Stay behind barriers; no scrambling for unique angles.
